Hi everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous week. I am coming back with one of my favorite posts with a weekly beauty obsession 🙂 (even though today’s product is technically a skin care item). Over the past year I have considered skin care as part of my beauty routine. If you neglect to take good care of your skin then your makeup isn’t going to look as flawless as you want it to (no matter how “full coverage” of a foundation you get).
I have made sheet masks a part of my routine 2-3 times a week. I avoided trying them for the longest time because I thought everyone was just hyping up a product. I thought they weren’t going to work as good as I wanted. However, I was completely wrong! They are amazing, if your skin is dry, acne prone, oily or everything there is a sheet mask that will work for your face.
After trying many different brands my ultimate favorite is currently the Leader’s Insolution brand found in Ulta. These sheet masks come soaking in serum (literally the mask is drenched in serum lol). To me this is extremely important because you don’t want the sheet mask to dry out in five minutes. To ensure your face is soaking up all of the nutrients in the mask I like to leave it on as long as I can (usually 15-30 minutes). My favorite is the AC Clear treatment mask & the Hydrating mask, this time though I tried out the Tea Tree one and it’s great for when your face is breaking out.
What is your favorite sheet mask or facial to use?
Hi everyone! I hope you all are off to a great start in the week. Can you believe Valentine’s Day is just around the corner?!? It’s crazy to me because it feels like we just started 2017. Since the chocolate filled day is almost upon us I thought I would share my top pics for Valentine’s Day gifts.
Of course I had to start with jewelry! In my Chloe + Isabel boutique the Petite Bijoux line is my favorite for Valentine’s. It’s filled with delicate, feminine jewels that are perfect for everyday wear. You can find this line under my Valentine’s Day section at alissagilbert.chloeandisabel.com
It’s not really Valentine’s day without chocolate. My all time favorite chocolate is from Norman Love Confections. You can’t get these just anywhere but if you find it, you need to try it. The chocolate is almost too gorgeous to eat! You can find them at www.normanloveconfections.com/shop
If your man isn’t a chocolate lover then consider getting him something for his hobby. Whether it’s new workout shoes or surprising him with a new video game he will definitely be grateful to see that you were thinking about him.
If you are anything like me you will be splurging on jewelry & chocolate for you, because you should love yourself…right?! lol. I hope this helps you narrow down some options on your Valentine’s Day gift search. Keep an eye out for the next post coming.
Hi Loves! I hope you all had a fabulous week. I feel like every year everybody makes fitness resolutions to loose weight, go to the gym, or start eating better. Every time I make a resolution like that I never follow through with it, which is why this year I didn’t make one. I don’t want to just reach a temporary goal and quit. If you want to be fit you have to think about fitness as a lifestyle change that you are aiming to work towards everyday.
Pure Barre has always been something that I have wanted to do but never committed to going. While talking over coffee with friends we thought we should give it a try, because why not? I thought this was going to be something that I was going to be great at and it wasn’t going to be that challenging. I mean I use to take dance classes as a kid, I was a cheerleader for years and I had still been coaching and staying active. Well, I was completely wrong.
(If you have done Pure Barre you know how accurate this is😂)
This was the most challenging workout I have done in a while. You would think that because you are a newcomer that they would slow down and show you what to do before you actually start…..not really lol. The second they started with the warm up you just have to watch and follow along. Even my friend, who is a dance teacher, found this class challenging. What I think is great is it doesn’t matter if you have a dance background or not to do this class. The workout consists of small isolating movements, that make muscles you didn’t even know you had burn!
This class was way more intense than I thought it was going to be. However, I would 100% recommend it and I will definitely sign up again. Within 1 hour you target every muscle in your body and trust me you will feel it the next day (in the best way possible!)
Let me know if you have done Pure Barre or other classes similar to it? At some point this year I know I have to try aerial yoga! We will see how that goes😅
Hi everyone, I hope you all have had a fabulous week. I thought today I would do a little life update post as to why I’ve been M.I.A from blogging for the past week.
It started out being in a blogging rut, I had absolutely no idea what to post about. As summer is coming to an end, the excitement for fall is getting to me. I have not been wanting to post any more summer makeup looks or anything and have wanted to just jump into fall, but it’s still kind of early for that. However come September I won’t be able to wait any longer and fall posts will be here! Then, I also added coaching cheerleading back on my list and we have just ended week 2. From my evenings & nights being occupied, to having my typical crazy work schedule and then getting into a blogging rut, I got stuck. Thankfully I finally got my schedule back on track and I have more blog ideas coming to me.
Also, I have to mention The Glossy Life officially got it’s own Twitter account! Connect with me on Twitter here and I will follow you back. I love being able to support fellow bloggers, it’s such a fun community to be apart of. Lastly, I will still continue to upload every Tuesday & Friday 🙂 so make sure you come back on Tuesday so we can hang out again.
Let me know what you are looking forward to this weekend (my plans include Netflix & my bed after I get out of work lol).
Hello everyone, today I am sharing one of my favorite looks, which is an easy way to wear a summer dress from daytime appropriate to a night out look. For me a basic flowy dress is essential for the summer time because you can dress it up or down and no matter how hot it gets it will still be comfortable. I love this dress I got from H&M and the best part is it was only $17.99 and all you need are a few accessories.
I love the pocket detailing on this dress it makes it unique.
This dress paired with a crystal necklace and a cross-body makes it simple and cute for any summer day.
To make this a night out look just pair it with a long necklace, some wedges or booties and a clutch then your good to go!
I’ve had a lot of people ask me if you can mix brown with black, and my rule is yes! Some people don’t like to and that’s totally fine, but whenever you are working with neutrals they always work together.
I hope this helped to give you some summer style inspo. Have a great weekend!
Today I am starting a “life” series on my blog and it’s going to be full of many different topics. I feel like since 2016 has started there have been so many changes in my life and I know there are many more to come in this year. First off if you saw my last beauty post, I had said that I have not been able to post as much as I would have liked to in the past week or two and part of that reason is I am starting a new job!
I am 21 years old and have had my AA degree since December of 2014. All of 2015 I basically spent trying to figure out what bachelor’s degree I wanted to pursue. I started taking pre-requisites and just wasn’t completely happy with anything that I was doing in school. My mom had mentioned that I should take a semester off, to take time for myself and figure out what I want. I was completely against doing this because I didn’t like the idea of not being in school and only having a part time job that doesn’t pay much. My dad had mentioned to me about possibly getting my real estate license before, but I didn’t have the time or the money to commit to this. In January, maybe it was the excitement of the “new year” feeling, but I had decided that real estate was something that I wanted to try out. Within two months’ time I took classes, passed the necessary tests and have been accepted to work with a really good company. Just this week as I signed my contract with the broker I just can’t believe how within a short amount of time I could go from “I have no idea what I am doing with my life”, to now starting a real estate career. I never really understood people when they would say your 20’s is a crazy, exciting time, filled with ups and downs but now I feel like I’m starting to see what everyone was talking about.
While I still don’t have a lot in my life figured out I am headed in an exciting direction. Starting something like a real estate career is intimidating. Especially since I am 21 and most people I have met in this business are at least 20+ years older than me lol. However, this is something that I cannot wait to start and I like that I am working for myself and not at a typical 9-5 job. I know that I am also going to have a few other exciting things to come within the next few months that I will be sharing soon! If you are still reading this, then congratulations for listening to me ramble on for this long. If you have any ideas or stories that you want to hear and think I should add to my life series let me know in the comments!
